Puke-O-Rama

No more February vacations.

Last year I spent my trip to Phoenix in bed sick the entire time.

I am supposed to be there now basking in the sunshine and 70 degree weather as I type.

Alas, it was not meant to be.

Nursery is a sick den where all germs breed during the week and attack on Sunday. I know it.

Chubbs brought home the pukes and, as always, it manifested itself at midnight.

No. It's not her in the picture. Just a cute, sick kid. I was mopping up vomit, not taking tender pictures.

Then Cheroo got it.

I was applying oils like crazy to try and stop the tide of destruction in our home.

Jedrick got it next.

He really does turn green. That how I know he's not faking.

I got it and I thought the oils had failed me.

Stern reminded me that Chubbs had it the worst (unoiled pre-vomit) and we had all had it and recovered in less than eight hours. It took poor Chubbs four full days to recover.

Drum roll please...

NO ONE ELSE GOT IT!

Four out of nine.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

A Leap of Faith

Certain  ailments have always been an automatic trip to the doctor's office.

Strep throat ~ Ouch!

Pink eye ~ Ew.

Influenza ~ Ugh.

When Pupa came home from school with strep throat I had to make a choice. 

No ~ this is not Pupa's mouth! She was in some serious pain. I wasn't going to be taking pictures people!

Could I really cure this with oils?

I had read a lot about how effective doTERRA essential oils are against strep, so I decided to give it a try.

Here's what I did:

1 drop oregano, 2 drops melaleuca or OnGuard topically on throat, around ears, and on the feet. I used a carrier oil for easier application  3 to 4 times daily.

I also used peppermint on her back to lower her fever.

The application to the throat took the pain away in a half and hour and her fever was gone in 48 hours.

This is so empowering!

I Can't Feel It

Apparently it is a well-known fact that clove has been used in dentistry for a long time. I must have been asleep the day that was taught.

Anyhow, I had a dentist appointment coming up and like a 10-year-old I thought I'd better get flossing and try to fake out the hygienist. Hey ~ I just had a baby so I'm excited if I get my teeth brushed. I know. Gross. I understand if I lose all of my friends over that one.

A few days before the appointment I started my rigorous flossing routine only to wind up wondering if I would be able to sleep that night. Yowzers my mouth hurt!

Normally I pop and Avil (now that I do this all the time.... ehem) and call it a night. This time I though "I should try clove oil. I hear it's great for toothaches, abscesses, and mouth pain in general."

So I grab my doTERRA clove oil, dilute it 1:1 with fractionated coconut oil and decide if it works for a toothache then if I put it all over my gums I'll feel great.

I proceeded to smear it from molar to molar, inside and out, and within seconds.... it worked.

It worked REALLY good.

I went upstairs to Bo's room laughing and barely spit out "Bo! I can't feel my lipth... or my gumths... or my tongue! It's all numb!"

We had a good laugh and I went to bed feeling great!

I totally faked out the hygienist but my dentist called me out on the carpet. Dangit!!

How Do You Stop a Virus?

Miracles of miracles took place in this house over the past week and a half.

We got the pukies around here. There are so many "loving" (meaning germ-sharing) people in our family that whenever a sickness enters the home it inevitably travels though everyone ~ sometimes even mutating during the course and making a second round.

I have been diffusing doTERRA's Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG)  OnGuard in our home all day everyday.
